The Unarchiver App Reviews

Garbage

Didn’t work. It wouldn’t open zip files and for the .cgpz files it claims to be able to open all it did was stick the zip file in a folder.

A problem

After the update, I keep getting “there was a problem while reading the contents of the file…the archive file is incomplete” to all my archive files. Even the ones that were good on the pervious version. It also does not que, is it gives me a “null” error. I hope you find a fix for this and thank you for all your hard work.

This latest update has broken it!

Like others, after this latest update, I’m always getting a message that one of the archives is unreadable. But they’re fine as WINRAR can open them no problem and the version right before this update can as well. Please fix or undo this last update Version 3.11 (107). To be fair, this was a 5 star application, and if fixed, will still be a 5 star app.

So SLOW!

Man, this is so slow! I used other apps on my mac that were so much faster at extracting files than this. Just amazed with such high rating, given how horribly slow it is!

Used to work great now works once every 50 times

For some reason the program mysteriously started asking to be default application for unarchiving. It already was, I tried making it again and nothing changed. Support website is a mess, not very good UX. Support page for like 5 different applications. Every once and a while it will work perfectly as expected but its very rare these days. Would appreciate a fix.

ZipNOTHING!

The program couldn’t extract bin or cpgz files. It just created another copy of the extact file that’s being extracted…

Very Good!

I have been using this tool for several years. It does what we need without any frills. As a developer, we often need to extract jars, and this was by far the simplest and easiest to use. I regularly use this for jars, tars, zips and so far no problems. A great tool for free, I would recommend it to anyone.

Great app

Always works great..Its not winrar but its the best extracter available to osx hands down. Highly recommended.

Supports different encoding

What I always like about this unarchiver app is that it supports a lot of encodings and it will let me decide which one is the best, so I always get my file names correct. No weird symbols. Very satisfied.

Worked when Archive Utility didnt

I was downloading a zip file with a Mac app in it. Using Archive Utility, the app wouldn’t run after unzipping. Unarchiver unzipped it correctly and the app worked as it was supposed to. Good job, Unarchiver!

All you need

Not the best looking app but it does the job.

Awesome...

I rarely use any software that didn’t come with macOS if I don’t have to. But, in this case, an old ZIP file was deemed corrupted by the Archive Utility and would not unzip. I even triend PKZIP for Windows (an old friend that will “Fix” corrupt ZIP files). It was unable to save my files inside this zip file. I got Unarchiver and it did the job. All of the compressed files in my ZIP file were unzipped and are working just fine. That impressed me right there. PKZIP is a stalwart of the Windows ecosystem. I used it for years in my professional jobs and never did it fail me like it did today. I thought all hope was lost and then I used your application and it did the job. Excellent application. I don’t need or want Stuffit Expander or need to use the Archive Utility now that Unarchiver is on my machine. Two Thumbs Up!

Most simple, but the fastest

Unarchiver is the fastest program in it’s class. I tried out the others and they seem to run into issues with multiple zip files. I manage multiple zip files all the time becasuse on some image sites it is easier to uplad as a zip file than a group of file individually. Other programs create unwanted popups, are slow, and as stated before they cannot extract multiple zip files. Been using this program since I got my first iMac years ago.

Works perfectly

Like it says, I’ve been using this app for years (since 2012), and it works perfectly. Thank you so much!

not fully functional

Does not handle multi file rar archives. Sadly I’ve been using this tool for several years, and I was sure it could handle anything. Its not a limitation of free version, I own the paid one(browser) , it seem the author just didn’t do good job here. There is free apps can do better than this, deleted it.

awesome

i just can say it is the best unarchiver ever.

without alternatives on Mac

it seems like this app has still no competitors, an essential tool

Doesn’t Work In OSX 10.12.1

Doesn’t work in latest OSX version. Can’t get past the greyed out instructional screen in Preferences Screen. Fix this defect.

i can’t seem to delete this review.

uh just delete this review please idk why i can’t delete it

able to select multiple files to extract in a row

Finally an extracter that i can select multiple files and press extract and they all extract with out me having to wait for each one to be extracted. It will also delete the original compressed file so i dont have to go back and find all the files ive already extracted.
